Deanna Laughlin is a dedicated second year pharmacy student at Northeast Ohio Medical University with a strong passion for infectious diseases, public health, and clinical pharmacy. With a background in business analytics and healthcare management, Deanna combines her expertise in pharmacy with strategic leadership to drive impactful initiatives. She has a keen interest in pediatric infectious diseases and pharmacoepidemiology, aiming to contribute to both patient care and public health advancements on a global scale.

Deanna is actively involved in numerous professional organizations, holding leadership roles that focus on career development, advocacy, and global health. She currently serves as the President of the NEOMED Infectious Diseases Interest Group (IDIG) and the Regional Project Officer for the IPSF Pan American Regional Office (PARO), overseeing multiple subcommittees dedicated to pharmacy education and public health. Additionally, she is a Member-At-Large for the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) and plays a pivotal role in the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) as the Career and Leadership Development Work Group Lead. Through her involvement in Lambda Kappa Sigma, the NEOMED Global Health Interest Group, and the Student College of Clinical Pharmacy, she continues to promote professional growth and interdisciplinary collaboration within the field of pharmacy.

Her professional experience spans both clinical and operational pharmacy settings. She has worked as a pharmacy intern at Ashtabula Regional Medical Center, where she assisted with medication reconciliation and clinical data compilation. She also gained experience in infectious diseases during her time at Cleveland Clinic Marymount Hospital, where she supported clinical pharmacists in patient rounding and pharmaceutical care. Internationally, she completed a summer pharmacy externship in South Korea through the APhA-IPSF Summer Fellowship, gaining exposure to global pharmaceutical practices. Prior to pharmacy school, Deanna worked in roles such as a Government Program Analyst and Business Analyst in pharmacy departments, enhancing her analytical and policy-driven approach to healthcare.

Deanna’s commitment to public health extends beyond academia and work experience. She has led vaccination initiatives in local schools, delivered OTC safety presentations to young students, and participated in community outreach programs such as the Script Your Future campaign. With a strong foundation in leadership, clinical practice, and public health advocacy, Deanna is dedicated to advancing pharmacy’s role in improving patient outcomes, particularly in infectious diseases.
