Deanna Jo Laughlin

Deanna Jo Laughlin, MBA, is a pharmacy leader, global health advocate, and health policy scholar dedicated to advancing equitable access to medicines and strengthening health systems worldwide. She is a Doctor of Pharmacy candidate at Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED), concurrently completing a Master of Global Health and Innovation. 

Deanna currently serves as the Pan American Regional Chairperson of the International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF), representing pharmacy students and young professionals across North, Central, South America, and the Caribbean. In this role, she leads regional initiatives focused on antimicrobial resistance, universal health coverage, workforce development, and pharmaceutical policy engagement, working closely with international organizations including the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).

Her leadership extends across major professional organizations. She serves as Vice Chair of the ASHP Pharmacy Student Forum, contributes to global programming through the American College of Clinical Pharmacy Global Health Practice and Research Network, and has held multiple national and institutional leadership positions promoting interprofessional collaboration, medication safety, and global health education.

Deanna’s professional interests center on infectious diseases pharmacotherapy, antimicrobial stewardship, pediatric pharmacy, medication safety, and global pharmaceutical policy. She is particularly passionate about integrating clinical pharmacy practice with public health strategy, health systems strengthening, and data-driven quality improvement to address health inequities in both high-resource and low-resource settings.

She has represented pharmacy learners at international policy forums including the World Health Assembly, the United Nations High-Level Political Forum, and the PAHO Directing Council, advocating for youth engagement in global health governance and sustainable access to essential medicines.

Deanna’s long-term career goal is to bridge clinical pharmacy, global health policy, and health outcomes research through advanced training and leadership in academic medicine, international health organizations, or pharmaceutical policy institutions.
